2 days in Sao Paulo, first stop of #bigblogx!

Sao Paulo was my first stop, I arrived in this city on saturday morning and leave it on sunday afternoon. So what do you have to do in 2 days and 1 night in Sao Paulo? First stop : the market. Plenty of fruits and other foods everywhere… have a try and taste some fruits you don’t even know the name! Personnaly, I enjoyed a delicious drink made of watermelon! And I don’t eat only liquid, I went to the food court of the top of the market to taste some typical food such as “Pastéis de Bacalhau”…

Sao Paulo était donc mon premier arrêt, je suis arrivée le samedi matin et repartie le dimanche après-midi. Alors, que faire en 2 jours et 1 nuit à Sao Paulo? Première étape : le marché. Des fruits à foison et de la bouffe en tout genre partout… un conseil n’ayez pas peur de tester des fruits dont vous ne connaissez sûrement même pas le nom! En ce qui me concerne, j’ai opté pour un délicieux jus de pastèque! Et comme je ne me nourris pas que d’amour et d’eau fraîche, j’ai aussi testé quelques spécialités locales comme le “Pastéis de Bacalhau”…

Then, when your stomac is full, it’s time to go for a walk! Villa Madalena is a perfect place for that, expecially if you love street art! I guess that there probably is more walls with graffitis in this area than empty walls! But to be honest, I love that! It’s not dirty and that’s why I like them, they are really made by some artists, not just some random guy who does’nt even know how to use a paint bomb… Plus, it seems thare there was a very nice bar here, so just go there before the end the day to have some light to see the graffitis. 😉

Ensuite l’estomac rempli, il est temps de faire une petite balade digestive! Villa Madalena est un endroit parfait pour ça, surtout si vous aimez l’art de rue! J’imagine qu’il y a probablement plus de murs avec des grafittis que de murs blancs dans ce coin! Et pour être honnête, ça ne fait pas du tout crade et c’est pour ça que j’aime bien, ce sont réellement des oeuvres d’art, pas juste des tags faits par un mec qui sait à peine utiliser une bombe de peinture… De plus, il semblait y avoir un petit bar bien sympathique, donc n’hésitez pas à y aller tant qu’il fait jour pour voir les graffitis, puis à y passer la soirée. 😉

Did you know that June is the beginning of the winter here in Brazil? Well, winter with 20°C, it’s not really comparable with the canadian winter lol! But in June, one cool thing is that there are a lots of party called “Festas Juninas” in all the country. It looks like a tombola, with some stands where you can buy food, some other where children can play, and a scene with some musical animations. I tried “tapioca” a typical food from the north, filled with coconut and which is really damn good, and a kind of hot sangria!

Saviez vous que Juin marque le début de l’hiver au Brésil? Enfin, un hiver à 20°C c’est pas vraiment comparable avec l’hiver canadien on s’entend! Mais en Juin il y a une chose cool en tout cas, c’est qu’il y a de nombreuses fêtes appelées les “Festas Juninas” dans tout le pays. Cela ressemble un peu à une kermesse, avec des stands où on peut acheter de la bouffe, d’autres avec des jeux pour les enfants et une scène musicale. J’ai testé pour ma part le “tapioca” un plat typique du nord, rempli de noix de coco et hyper bon, ainsi qu’un verre de sorte de sangria chaude.

I forgot of purpose to talk about my visit of the popular district. If I did’nt feel some fear, I wasn’t comfortable either… And so were my compagnons, even if they live in Sao Paulo, they never go to this area of the city! And upon their advice, I did’nt took with me either my camera or my bag, to not look like a potential target. On the evening, we went to a bar on the top of a hotel with a beautiful view of Sao Paulo. I hadn’t taken my camera with me but it worth it! (cocktails are quite expensive however, like 15$ ˆˆ) J

‘ai fait exprès de ne pas vraiment vous parler de ma visite dans le quartier populaire. Même si je n’ai pas vraiment ressenti de peur, je n’étais pas totalement confortable non plus. Même mes compagnons qui pourtant habitent Sao Paulo, ne vont jamais dans cette partie là de la ville. C’est sur leurs conseils que je n’ai pris ni mon appareil photo ni même mon sac avec moi pour ne pas ressembler à une cible potentielle. Le soir, nous sommes allés dans un bar sur le toit d’un hôtel avec une superbe vue sur Sao Paulo. Les cocktails y sont un peu chers (15$) mais ça vaut le coup! ˆˆ

As you can see, my first day was really full, but the day after was lighter! We just went to Ibirapuera parc which is very close to the hostel. On a sunday morning, all the people from Sao Paulo seems to be running, cyling or skating here! I tried a very new thing for me, drink some “agua de coco” directly from the coconut! Funny, but heavy lol! Then, we went to the Cafe da praia where I enjoyed a yummy yummy açaï ice cream, whith bananas and granola. I really like it, so I hope that I can eat that again before leaving Brazil!

Comme vous pouvez le voir mon premier jour fut bien rempli, mais le deuxième fut un peu plus léger! Nous somme juste allées au parc Ibirapuera qui est très proche de l’auberge de jeunesse. Un dimanche matin comme ça, on aurait dit que tout Sao Paulo était soit en train de courir, soit de faire du vélo ou du skate! J’ai essayé quelque chose de nouveau pour moi, boire directement de l'”agua de coco” à la source! Fun mais un peu lourd par contre! Ensuite direction le Cafe da praia où j’ai expérimenté une délicieuse glace à l’açaï, avec des bananes et du granola. J’espère avoir l’occasion d’en manger encore avant de partir!
